Prepare for crispy, golden hash browns that will make your taste buds sing. The recipe is easy to follow, and the results are incredibly satisfying.
Get ready to elevate your breakfast (or any meal) with these extraordinary creations.
Ingredients
Pinch of salt
Oil for frying
1 Clove garlic
1 Yellow onion
2 Medium potatoes
1/2 Tsp black pepper
1 Tsp Cajun seasoning
1/4 Cup wheat flour (or any type of flour)
Method
Peel the potatoes and wash them to remove any dirt.
Grate the potatoes using the large side of a grater. Once grated, place them in a cheesecloth or tea towel and squeeze out any excess liquid. Transfer the grated potatoes to a large mixing bowl.
Add the flax egg, salt, garlic, onion, black pepper, cajun seasoning, and flour to the grated potatoes in the mixing bowl. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly, ensuring they are properly combined.
Heat a good-sized frying pan with oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add spoonfuls of the mixture to the pan and flatten them to form patties. Alternatively, you can shape the patties before adding them to the oil.
Fry the hash browns for approximately 5 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
Serve the hot hash browns with your breakfast, burgers, or any other dish you prefer. Enjoy!
Optional Tip: You can bake the hash browns in the oven instead of frying them. Preheat the oven to 180°C/355°F and bake the hash browns for 20-30 minutes until they are cooked, and crispy. This option reduces calories while maintaining the delicious taste.
